H. Taylor Williams, IV
Since 1980, Mr. Williams has practiced law and has been a civic leader and community volunteer. He has been married to the former Anne Councill since 1978. Mr. Williams and his family have lived in Franklin since 1987. Mr. and Mrs. Williams have two children and a granddaughter and grandson.
Mr. Williams received his Juris Doctorate from T. C. Williams School of Law in May 1980 and was admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Virginia in May of 1980. Mr. Williams has 27 years’ experience in the general practice of law in courts throughout southeast Virginia. While in private practice Mr. Williams served as a Special Prosecutor and as a Commissioner in Chancery. Mr. Williams has also served the Virginia State Bar as a member on the First District Ethics Committee for six years and on the Disciplinary Board for six years. He has served as the City Attorney for the City of Franklin since August, 2007.
Mr. Williams has served on numerous boards and commissions for the City of Franklin. He has been an active member of High Street United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school and serving as treasurer of the Men’s Breakfast Club. He has been a member of Ruritan over 30 years holding different offices. He has been a member of Rotary over 25 years. He served many years as a volunteer at the local YMCA and with the American Cancer Society local Relay for Life. Mr. Williams has been an active volunteer in the Franklin City Public Schools.
Mr. Williams has often said he achieved the American dream. He has a home with a 30 year mortgage, a wife, a daughter, a son, a station wagon and 2 dogs. What else could he want? He would like to shoot a round of par golf one time.
