Facilities – Transfer Stations


The Norfolk Transfer Station receives solid waste from the city's municipal haulers, Norfolk residents and private waste haulers. Solid waste is screened for unauthorized waste by staff members. The waste is loaded onto SPSA transfer vehicles and delivered to the Refuse Derived Fuel Plant to be converted into fuel.

  • Located on seven acre site
  • Station housed in a fully enclosed building
  • Designed to receive 1,300 tons of waste daily

On-Site Operations

  • Household hazardous waste collection
  • Used motor oil drop-off


Hours of Operation

  • Monday - Friday, 800 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.*
  • Saturday 8:00 a.m. - noon for anyone
  • Saturday noon - 4:00 p.m. for Norfolk residents only
  • Sunday noon - 4:00 p.m. for Norfolk residents only
  • HHW Disposal - Every Tuesday and Saturday, Noon - 4:00PM
